Our Roots

In 1983, while experimenting with a variety of foods, Carol developed a great tasting powerhouse recipe for Veggie Burgers. She started with Sunflower seeds, her secret ingredient, followed by whole grains and fresh vegetables. Her goal was to create a full-flavored, nutritious soy – free vegetarian burger without fillers or preservatives. Long story short, her kids loved them! This great tasting, nutrient-dense recipe was such a hit with her family and friends that it eventually led to her starting the Sunshine Plant Based Foods business.
